James Chi brings extensive experience in financial services and across payments, with expertise spanning networks, banks, fintechs, and the broader ecosystem. At Block (including Square, Cash App, and Afterpay), he leads Banking Partnerships and Operations for non-card money movement, including ACH, RTP, FedNow, wires, checks, cash, and open banking. He manages key strategic banking and payments relationships, enables new products and services, strengthens payment infrastructure, and advances regulatory rigor, risk management, and operational resilience. Previously, James was a Director at KPMG, where he led large-scale transformation programs for Fortune 500 institutions across payments strategy, product development, system implementation, post-merger integration, and enterprise transformation. He is an active industry voice in payments, serving as a conference speaker, participating in an industry advisory group, and contributing to podcasts and thought leadership.
