Ximena Alemán is Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Prometeo, a global borderless fintech infrastructure company connecting businesses to more than 7500 financial institutions across +50 countries around the globe. Since founding the company in 2018, she has helped transform Prometeo from building connectivity infrastructure to unify access to bank data and payment capabilities through a single API, then expanded that foundation into a broader banking infrastructure platform for businesses operating across the globe Prometeo is trusted by institutions including Citi, J.P. Morgan, SWIFT, BBVA, and Banco Santander, and backed by Antler Elevate, PayPal Ventures, and Samsung Next. Under her leadership, Prometeo has developed technology for cross-border treasury operations, Name Match for real-time account ownership verification in the U.S., and Agentic Banking, the region’s first AI-native financial infrastructure layer. Ximena is also a visible advocate for open banking, financial inclusion, and gender equity in fintech. She is a 2025 World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer, WeFinTech Ambassador, Global Catalyst, and was named to FinTech Magazine’s Top 100 Women in Fintech in 2024.
How is the nominee propelling the industry forward?
Ximena is advancing financial infrastructure in the Americas by tackling market fragmentation across systems and standards. Over the past year, she led the launch of three infrastructure products that expand modern payment capabilities. Most notably, she spearheaded Agentic Banking, the first AI-native financial infrastructure layer in Latin America, enabling intelligent systems to execute payments, treasury workflows, and account validations within a compliant, auditable framework. Through structured orchestration and a Model Context Protocol, she established a blueprint for responsible financial automation at scale. She also led the rollout of Borderless Banking, unifying cross-border treasury and real-time payments across the Americas, and introduced Name Match to the U.S., strengthening payment verification and fraud prevention through real-time ownership validation aligned with Nacha guidelines. Together, these initiatives demonstrate her ability to identify infrastructure gaps, set technical standards, and deliver scalable, secure solutions that modernize payments while reinforcing trust.
