Real-time Wages: The Latest Job Perk in a Highly Competitive Marketplace

Consumers have come to expect instant transactions in their daily lives, so it is little surprise that more and more employees are demanding the same from their paychecks. A recent survey found that 83% of workers believe they are entitled to earned wage access (EWA) at the end of each day or shift. At the same time, 78% indicated faster wages would increase loyalty to employers. And perhaps most importantly, 81% of respondents stated they would take a job with EWA over a job that did not provide such a benefit. This trend toward EWA is largely driven by employees that are living paycheck-to-paycheck, including gig workers. The need for faster paychecks is an urgent matter for these workers.
