During her time at the Fed as well as currently, Miriam has actively mentored others in the payments arena as a means of sharing her knowledge and experience and is one of the initial individuals to tackle the newly established Accredited Faster Payments Professional certification. Miriam is unashamedly proud to be labeled a payment geek!
Where do you see the nominee succeeding in the future?
Miriam’s work with FIs to leverage new technologies more aggressively for their core processing, particularly payments, is helping to drive a broader impact on the fintech sector and allows new players to participate in providing services that would not have been considered in the past. Leveraging things like cloud, microservices and APIs opens the provision of technology services to a far broader audience than has been possible in the past and allows FIs to position themselves flexibly in the ever-evolving payments ecosystem. Instant Payments are still in their infancy in the US and, through her industry visibility and experience at the Federal Reserve, Miriam is poised to help drive adoption of these payment rails and ensure that businesses and consumers are able to cost effectively utilize the payment scheme which best suits their needs in each use case. US payment schemes have undergone more change in the past several years than in the past several decades. Miriam’s experience with multiple schemes, multiple roles and multiple players in the payment space positions her to adjust to the ever-changing US payment landscape and be a leader as the industry continues to grow and evolve.
