Payments Innovator
Payments innovation is often framed as a competition among rails (ACH, RTP, cards, etc.) and focused on speed, cost and incremental features. This session takes a different view. Drawing on platform economics, API-enabled financial infrastructure, and models of embedded finance, we propose that competitive advantage in payments is shifting toward “flow control”: the ability to embed financial movement, authorization and reconciliation inside the operating workflows of the economy. We explore how real-time settlement and programmable forms of value are transforming payments from back-office infrastructure into a core control layer for commerce - and what this means for banks, fintechs and financial institutions.
